World Jamboree History
An experienced group of Scouters will lead the Circle Ten Council's World Jamboree troops.
Circle Ten Council Contingent Leader
Charles Holmes is the Jamboree Chairman for Circle Ten Council and is the BSA Southern Region World Jamboree Chairman. He is an Eagle Scout and has served as a uniformed leader for Troop 70 for over 35 years, 11 of which
were as Scoutmaster. Charles is Wood Badge trained and has served as a staff member on eleven courses
and as course director in 2004. This will be Charles'
sixth World Jamboree experience and sixteenth overall jamboree. Charles and his wife Deborah have been married for 34 years, and they have two sons, both Eagle Scouts.
Bill Hemenway, Scoutmaster
Bill Hemenway is the current
District Commissioner of the Northern Lights District. He also serves as
an Assistant Scoutmaster and Eagle Advisor for Troop 1776 in the Plano/Murphy area.
Prior to his current positions, he served as the Scoutmaster, the
high adventure and jamboree coordinator and as a merit badge
counselor for Troop
1776. Bill served as a Leader for the 2005 and 2010 National
Jamborees and on staff for the 2013 Jamboree at the Summit. In addition,
Bill has led treks to Philmont, Northern Tier and Sea Base. He is a Brotherhood Member of the Mikanakawa Lodge, is Wood Badge trained, and
has staffed numerous Wood Badge courses including course director
for Wood Badge 105. Bill has been married
to his wife Jan for 27 years and has two sons, both Eagle Scouts, and a
daughter. Bill is an account manager for Alcatel-Lucent and enjoys
flying and working at his ranch in his spare time.
John Stone, Assistant Scoutmaster
John Stone is the current Circle Ten Council Training Chair and
serves on the Council Executive Board.
He also serves as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 1776 in
the Plano/Murphy area. Prior to his current positions, he served as
the Scoutmaster for Troop 1776. John served as a Leader for the 2005
and 2010 National Jamborees and as the Council Contingent Leader the
2013 National Jamboree. He
has served as a leader at the 2007 World Jamboree in London and the
2011 World Jamboree in Sweden. In additional, John has led treks to
Philmont, Northern Tier, and Sea Base.
He is a Vigil Member of the Mikanakawa Lodge, and was the
Course Director for Wood Badge 102 at Philmont Scout Ranch. John has
been married to his wife Alice for 27 years and has two daughters
and a son, who is an Eagle Scout.
John is a tax partner for a CPA firm in Dallas, and enjoys
traveling in his spare time.
